Binds bile acids in the intestines; inhibits enterohepatic reuptake of bile; inhibits cholesterol absorption in the intestines

LDL reduction: 12%-20%

Impairs absorption of other drugs e.g. warfarin,
phenytoin, levothyroxine, tetracyclines, folic acid,
digoxin, vitamins A, D, E, K
