- mostly colonizers (chronic wounds)

- used to include enterococcus, now just S. bovis which if found in blood is thought to indicate colon cancer

- S. milleri, S. anginosis, S. salivarius, S. mitis found in mouth, teeth, upper respiratory tract
- associated with endocarditis
