frontal sinuses

asymmetrical
above root of nose
drain into middle meatus via frontonasal duct --> hiatus semilunaris

sphenoid sinuses

form w/in body of sphenoid
between L and R cavernous sinuses
drain into sphenoethmoidal recess in P-S part of nasal cavities above S concha

ethmoid sinuses

make up M wall of orbit
formed by thin-walled ethmoidal air cells
between orbits above nasal cavities
drain into S and middle meatuses

maxillary sinuses

largest of paranasal sinuses
on either side of nasal cavities I to orbits
drain into middle meatuses
**most common for sinuses infections**

What is the nasolacrimal duct?

drains tears from M corner of eye and takes them to the I meatus on each side

What are they?

air-filled cavities w/in bones of skull
communicate w/ nasal cavities
