- lesser wing of sphenoid bone

- F lobe

formed by:
- greater and lesser wings of sphenoid bone
- squamous and petrous parts of T bones
contents:
- T lobes
- optic chiasm
- pituitary gland
separated by hypophyseal fossa

P cranial fossa

formed by:
- O bone
- petrous parts of T bones
contents:
- pons
- medulla --> exits via foramen magnum in floor of fossa
- cerebellum
- grooves on P and L walls accommodate transverse and sigmoid dural sinuses
