What is MECC?
Encouraging people to make healthier lifestyle decisions by systematically promoting the benefits of healthy living:
- Asking individuals about their lifestyle
- Taking appropriate action (signposting, referrals etc)
Utilises day to day interactions
What lifestyle issues should be covered?
Diet: BMI, balanced diet, diabetic control, healthy weight loss.
Exercise: 30mins x 5 days per week
Alcohol: <14 units per week for M & F
Smoking: cutting down to quit
