1

In green FLCH will the aircraft honor FMS altitude constraints?

No

2

How do you tell the aircraft to honor altitude constraints?

Select VNAV on guidance panel
This will place vertical mode into FLCH (magenta)
Climb or descend at selected speed and altitude

3

What indication do you see on HUD when in magenta FLCH?

VFLCH

4

What does PTH do for us in vertical mode?

Aircraft will intercept and track an FMS generated vertical path to meet vertical constraints in the FMS flight plan (1-6 degrees)

5

Is PTH a descent mode only or climb too?

Descent only

6

Can you use PTH in green HDG mode?

No

7

If you are in PTH and press green HDG, what will PTH change to?

Green FPA

8

On an ILS once cleared and selecting the APP button, what do you expect to see in the FMA?

APPR 1/LOC/GS in white (armed)

9

Once you intercept the LOC and GS, what till the FMA display?

APPR1/LOC/GS is green

10

When cleared for an RNAV approach, you select APP, what do you see in the FMA?

GP in white

11

Once you capture the GP, what do you expect to see in the FMA?

GP in magenta

12

What do you see in the HUD with GP capture (RNAV)?

VGP

13

What does HUD A3 mean?

HUD A 3 mode is armed for CAT II/III ILS

14

When HUD A3/LOC/GS becomes active, would you expect to see anything in the armed fields?

RLOUT and FLARE in white

15

You advance the thrust levers for takeoff and TO changes from white to green. Also AT appears in green. Why?

Auto throttle takeoff mode is active
AT system is engaged

16

What does the TO represent in the vertical mode column?

Takeoff is active vertical mode
FD gives you:
V2 +10 (2 eng)
V2 - V2+10 (1 eng)

17

On takeoff through 60kts the FMA changes from TO/AT < ROLL/TO
to
HOLD/AT < ROLL/TO

What does HOLD mean?

HOLD is active AT mode

18

What alt are the ATs de energized till after takeoff?

400’

19

On takeoff accelerating through 100kts, FMA changes from
HOLD/AT < ROLL/TO
to
HOLD/AT < TRACK/TO

What’s TRACK?

FD gives bank commands to maintain ground track Airplane was on at moment of engagement

20

What does FD command in GA mode?

2 eng - Vref + 20
1 eng - Vac (approach climb)

21

With the flaps extended what is the significance of green dot?

Indicates ideal flap extension speed

22

On the reversionary panel, what does the white bar across the “IRS” button indicate?

The IRS is reverted

23

In the event of an IRS failure, will the IRS manually revert?

No. The reversion must be done manually

24

Is the ADS reversion an automatic or manual function?

Reversion to ADS 3 is automatic

25

On takeoff you lose DU3 (EICAS display) is the reversion for the EICAS automatic or manual?

Automatic. The associated MFD will display as an EICAS

26

During flight the captains side ACP (audio control panel) fails, the captain selects the backup vol button. What happens?

CA will be connected directly to comm 1, bypassing the digital bus

(FO side works normally)

27

The MIC/MASK switch is normally left in auto. What does auto position allow for?

Automatically turns on the mask microphone when the oxygen mask is removed from its cabinet or is tested
