1

Vit. K Deficiency- Eti

Malabsorption, nutrition, decreased production due to chemo or abx

2

Vit. K Deficiency- Sx

Reduced coagulation, decreased clotting factors with normal factor V

3

Vit. K Deficiency- Dx

Prolonged prothrombin time, low levels of clotting factors

4

Vit. K Deficiency- Tx

Oral Vit K

5

Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation- Eti

Uncontrolled locoal or systemic activation of coagulation- depletion of coagulation factor & fibrinogen- assoc with sepsis, cx, trauma, burns

6

Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation- Sx

Bleeding at multiple sides, widespread purpura fulminates

7

Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation- Dx

Acute & progressive prolongation of coagulation studies- PT & PTT, throbocytopenia,

8

Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation- Tx

Tx underlying disorder, platelet infusion therapy, achieve homeostasis

9

Coagulopathy of liver disease- Eti

Impaired hepatic function due to cirrhosis or other liver disorders- decreased synthesis of clotting factors & fibrinogen

10

Coagulopathy of liver disease- Sx

Prolonged PT, corrects with mixing normal plasma. Bleeding disorder

11

Coagulopathy of liver disease- Dx

Deficiencies in fibrinogen, clotting factors

12

Coagulopathy of liver disease- Tx

Fresh, frozen plasma if bleeding complications occur

13

Aplastic anemia- Eti

Autoimmune, idiopathic anemia, bone marrow failure due to suppression or injury of hematopoietic stem cells- pancytopenia

14

Aplastic anemia- Sx

Weakness, fatigue, vulnerability to bacterial or fungal infections, mucosal & skin bleeding, pallor, purpura and petechiae. No hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy or bone tenderness

15

Aplastic anemia- Dx

Hypocellular BMB, pancytopenia, severe anemia, unremarkable RBC morphology

16

Aplastic anemia- Tx

Immunosupression (ATG-cyclosporine), steroids, abx to treat infections. BMT and transfusions
