1

Follicular lymphoma- Eti

Indolent- Gene translocation prevents apoptosis. 25% of NHL. Onset at 60, can transform to diffuse B cell lymphoma

2

Follicular lymphoma-Sx

Painless lymphadenopathy, comes & goes, no sweat, fevers or weight loss

3

Follicular lymphoma-Dx

Lymph biopsy- follicular pattern of growth

4

Follicular lymphoma-Tx

Less invasive therapies, observation, Rituximab- . Rarely BMT

5

Follicular lymphoma-Prognosis

Early treatment doesn't improve survival, advanced stage not curable

6

Diffuse Large B-cell- Eti

Most common, aggressive, 60s, potentially curable

7

Diffuse Large B-cell- Sx

Extra nodal involvement, night sweats, weight loss,

8

Diffuse Large B-cell- Dx

Lymph biopsy

9

Diffuse Large B-cell- Tx

Cytotoxic chemo:
R- Rituxumab
C- cyclophosphamide
H- doxorubicin
O- vincristine
P- Predinsone
BMT for recurrence

10

Burkitt lymphoma- Eti

Highly aggressive, rare, more common in children, rapid progression-> CNS

11

Burkitt lymphoma-Sx

Intraabdominal mass , peripheral lymphadenopathy,

12

Burkitt lymphoma- Tx

70-80% cure rate, high dose, intensive chemo- cyclophosphamide, CNS therapy,

13

Multiple myeloma- Eti

High incidence in african american, second most common hematologic malignancy, 60s, No cure

14

Multiple myeloma- Sx

CRAB
HyperCalcemia, Renal dysfunction, Anemia, Bone pain-spine & long bones

15

Multiple myeloma- Dx

M-protien in serum or urine, Bence-jones protein,

16

Multiple myeloma- Tx

Bisphosphonates, steroids, immunomodulatory agents- high dose dexamethasone

17

Acute Myeloid Leukemia- Eti

Most common acute leukemia in adults, 64 YO, males, prior nine marrow issues or chemo

18

Acute Myeloid Leukemia- Sx

Gingival hyperplasia, bleeding (petechiae)& bruising, constitutional symptoms

19

Acute Myeloid Leukemia- Dx

high blast count, BMB-85% myeloblasts & auer rods

20

Acute Myeloid Leukemia- Tx

Chemo- 1 week + 1 month hospital stay, consolidation chemo, Allogenic BMT

21

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia- Eti

20% of adult leukemia, 65 YO, Philadelphia chromosome

22

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia- Sx

Hepatosplenomegaly (abd pain, satiety, shoulder pain) , bleeding, fatigue,

23

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia- Dx

Philadelphia chromosome, hypercellular BMB, leukocytosis

24

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia- Tx

Imatinib- tyrosine kinase inhibitor,

25

Acute Lymphoid Leukemia- Eti

Most common in children, highly curable, can occur in adults, B or T cell lineage

26

Acute Lymphoid Leukemia- Sx

Anemia, bone pain, hepatosplenomegaly, CNS involvement, lymphadenopathy

27

Acute Lymphoid Leukemia- Dx

BMB- High blast count

28

Acute Lymphoid Leukemia- Tx

Muliple cycles of combination chemo, CNS prophylaxis

29

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia- Eti

Men, elderly, most common in W. hemisphere, b-lymphocytes,

30

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia- Sx

Abnormal CBC-Lymphocytosis, constitutional, lymphadenopathy,
