Chapter 13

Question 1

ὑπαγαγε εἰς τα ἐθνη.

Depart to the Gentiles.

ἐκεινῳ τῳ ἐτει ὁ βασιλευς ἀπεθανεν.

In that year the king died.

οἱ γραμματεις εἰπον κατά του Ἰησου.

The scribes spoke against Jesus.

ὁ Πετρος οὐ προσεχει τῳ ἀρχιερει.

Peter did not pay attention to the high priest.

οἱ ἀληθεις μαθηται εἰσιν ἐν τῃ πολει.

The true disciples are in the city.

δια πιστεως ἐχομεν ἐλπιδα δοξης.

Through faith we have hope of glory.

ἐχω μερος της βασιλειας.

I have a share in the kingdom.

ὁ ζητων την ἀληθειαν και δυναμιν λαμβενει.

The one who seeks truth also receives power.

ὁ πατερ του βασιλιως εἰπεν τῳ ἀρχιερει.

δια το ἐλεος αὐτου ὁ θεος ῥυεται ἡμας.

Because of his mercy God rescues us.

ποτε περιεπατουμεν ὑπο κρισιν.

Once we lived under judgement.

(ἡ) πιστις εὑρεν το ἀληθες τελος αὐτης.

Faith found its true goal.

Question 13

οὐδεις ἐστιν ἀγαθος;

Answer 13

Is no one good?

Question 14

εἰδον μιαν πολιν.

Answer 14

I/they saw one city.

Question 15

οὐχ εὑρες οὐδεν;

Answer 15

Didn’t you find anything?

Question 16

εἰπετε μηδεν μηδενι.

Answer 16

Say nothing to anyone (lit. nothing to nobody).

εἰπεν ὁτι ἐστιν εἱς κυριος και μια ἐκκλησια.

Answer 17

He said that there was one Lord and one church.

Question 18

ἐχω ἑν προβατον.

Answer 18

I have one sheep.

ἐλεγον οὐν τῳ Πιλατῳ οἱ ἀρχιερεις των Ἰουδαιων· Μη γραφε· Ὀ βασιλευς των Ἰουδαιων, ἀλλ᾽ὁτι ἐκεινος εἰπεν, Βασιλιυς εἰμι των Ἰουδαιων.

Answer 19

Therefore the chief priests of the Jews were saυing to Pilate, ‘Do not write: “The King of the Jews,” but that which that man said: “I am the king of the Jews.”’

ὁδε Ἰησους εἰπεν αὐτῳ· Τί με λεγεις ἀγαθον; οὐδεις ἀγαθος εἰ μη εἱς ὁ θεος.

Answer 20

But Jesus said to him, ‘Why do you say I am good? No one is good, except God alone.’ (or except one [person’ – God)

Question 21

ἡ χαρις του κυριου Ἰησου Χριστου και ἡ ἀγαπη του θεου και ἡ κοινωνια του ἁγιου πνευματος μετα παντων ὑμων.

Answer 21

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit (be) with you all.

Question 22

μη καλειτε τινα Ῥαββι· εἱς γαρ ἐστιν ὑμων ὁ διδασκαλος, παντες δε ὑμεις ἀδελφοι ἐστε.

Answer 22

Do not call someone ‘Rabbi’, for you have one teacher, and all of you are brothers.

Question 23

και ὁ Πετρος λεγει τῳ Ἰησου· Ῥαββι, καλον ἐστιν ἡμας ὡδε εἰναι, και οἰκοδομησομεν τρεις σκηνας ὑμιν, σοι μιαν και Μωϋσει μιαν και Ἠλιᾳ μιαν.

Answer 23

And Peter says (said) to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, it is good that we are here, and we shall build three tents for you, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’

Question 24

και ἐσονται οἱ δυο εἰς σαρκα μιαν· οὑτως οὐκετι εἰσιν δυο ἀλλα μια σαρξ.

Answer 24

And the two will be (made) into one flesh; thuse they are no longer two but one flesh.

Question 25

και πας ὁ ὀχλος ἐζητουν ἁπεσθαι αὐτου, ὁτι δυναμις παρ᾽αὐτου ἐξηρχετο και ἐθεραπευεν παντας.

Answer 25

And all the crowd was seeking to touch him, because power was coming out from him and he was healing them all.

Question 26

και ἐξηλθον οἱ μαθηται και ἠλθον εἰς την πολιν και εὑρον καθως εἰπεν αὐτοις.

Answer 26

And the disciples left and went to the city and found (it) just as he had told them.

Question 27

και προσελθων εἱς (ἐκ) των γραμματεων εἰπεν αὐτῳ· Ῥαββι, ἀκολουθησω σοι.

Answer 27

And one of the scribes, having approached, said to him ‘Rabbi, I will follow you.’

Question 28

και βασιλιυς ἐσται ἐπι τον οἰκον (του) Ἰακωβ εἰς τους αἰωνας (εἰς τον αἰωνα) και της βασιλειας αὐτου οὐ ἐσται τελος.

Answer 28

And he will be king over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will not be an end.

Question 29

ἐν τουτῳ τῳ κοσμῳ θλιψιν ἐχετε, ἀλλα ἐν ἐμοι εἰρηνην ἐχετε.

Answer 29

In this world you have suffering, but you have peace in me.

Question 30

οἱ μεν ἐξερχονται εἰς ἀναστασιν ζωης, οἱ δε εἰς ἀναστασιν κρισεως.

Answer 30

Some go out into resurrection of life, but others to a resurrection of judgement.
