  • Church (Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary)
  • Many visit for healing, 7,000 healed, 67 miraculously.
  • Spiritual healing as well as medical.

What is the significance and actions when Christians visit Jerusalem?

  • Jesus lived, died, was resurrected and seen there.
  • Brings Bible to life, helps them reflect
  • On Good Friday they will walk the Via Dolorosa (way of sorrows), where Jesus walked to his crucifixion.
  • Visit Church Holy Sepulchre, built where Jesus has been
  • Oil is poured of the Stone of Unction (stone where Jesus’s body was washed and laid), they rub hankys on it and take it as a relic.

What is the significance of Walsingham and what is done there?

  • Village in Norfolk, a lady saw Virgin Mary’s house being built in Nazerath, she was told to build it so she did
  • It’s a shrine
  • A statue of the Virgin Mary was built and a bottle with her milk is supposedly there.
  • Many miracles happened here
  • Every day there are Eucharist services and and evening prayers for pilgrims.

What is the significance of Rome?

A
  • Headquarters of the RCC
  • St Peters church built above the remains of St Peter - important leader in Christianity and disciple of Jesus
  • Peter was about to flee persecution from Rome, Jesus came in a vision and made him feel guilty as Jesus says he is going to be crucified, Peter felt guilty and went and was crucified upside down.
  • Do mass with the Pope in the Vatican
