Q

Trigeminal test

A

Sensation of face

Test muscles of mastication (clench jaw and palpate, also looking for uni lateral weakness on sides when opening mouth back up)

Look for corneal reflex

Q

VIII- vestibulocochlear test?

A

Screen hearing using voice and tuning forks (Tuning form if deaf)

16
Q

Difference between spasticity and rigidity

A

Spasticity is velocity dependant

Rigidity is not velocity dependant

17
Q

Test of power

A

Shoulder abduction

Elbow flexion and extension

Wrist extension
Finger flexion

18
Q

How to grade power?

A

MRC grading of power

0-5

0 is paralysis

1- flicker

2-movement with gravity eliminated

3- movement against gravity but not resistance

4- some resistance but not full power

5- normal

19
Q

MRC patterns of weakness

Proximal

Distal

Pyramidal

Focal

A

Proximal- usually muscular

Distal -usually nerve problem

Pyramidal -upper + flexed arm and extended leg

20
Q

Plantar response ?

Looking for what ?

A

Flexor= normal

Extensor= abnormal (UMN)

21
Q

Coordination test/cerebellar

Look for?

Test example?

A

Look for nystagmus , slurred speeech

Finger nose test

  • dysmetria (past pointing)
  • intention tremor
  • rapid alternating movements
22
Q

Examining limbs (sensory)

A
Observe
Ask about symptoms
Light touch
Pinprick
Temperature
Vibration
23
Q

Sensory test observe for

A

Scars , burns , ulcers

Skin changes

24
Q

Sensory touch test ?

A

Cotton woo

Does it feel normal

Pinprick test used for same thing

Temperature measurement using cold tuning fork

25
Q

Sensory vibration test ?

A

Vibration on tuning fork on toes
