Unrestricted submarine warfare

A

The use of submarines to sink without warning any ship found in an enemy’s waters. A German submarine sank a British passenger ship. Resulted in the US declaring war on Germany.

A

A conflict in which the participating countries devote all their resources to the war effort. The entire government of the countries in war were solely focused on winning the war. Unemployment in many European countries disappeared.

The limiting of the amount of goods that people can buy. Eventually rationing covered a long range of goods.

A

Information or material spread to advance a cause or to damage an opponents cause. Many leaders feared that honest reporting of the war would turn people against it. Kept up the morale and support for the war.

An agreement to stop fighting. Germany and France signed an armistice. World War I came to an end.
