Outer Ear

captures pressure waves (disturbances in air) created by speech

Middle Ear

converts these waves to mechanical vibrations

Inner Ear

converts the vibrations to vibrations in fluid which are then transformed into electrochemical information sent to the brain via the Auditory Nerve (VIII)

Delayed Auditory Feedback (DAF)

Delays what the consumer hears by a few milliseconds (ms)
Think of the DAF as an echo

Frequency Altered Feedback (FAF)

Alters the pitch perception of the consumer’s voice
This can be raised or lowered depending on the consumer’s preference

How does SpeechEasy work?

The theory is that stuttering can be inhibited by the use of choral speech.

Choral speech is nothing more than people saying the same thing at the same time.

SpeechEasy uses Delayed Auditory Feedback (DAF) and Frequency Altered Feedback (FAF) to emulate choral speech.

Looks similar to a hearing aid
4 different models
