Third person - describes the battle from a distance.
Allows him to portray the large numbers of soldiers who fought there and show how the battle occurred,Death - sinister - the reader is warned that something bad is going to happen from the start

Tennyson uses a regular, relentless rhythm in these lines to create a fast pace. This imitates the sound of galloping horses. The rhythm sounds like galloping horses' hooves - it gives the impression that the horses are unstoppable
