Fungi body plan

A

It is unicellular in the case of yeast. When multicellular it consists of long threadlike filaments called hyphae; they form the mycelium.

Plasmogamy

A

When fungi of two different mating types meet, their hyphae fuse and this is called plasmogamy. The cytoplasm fuses, but the nuclei remain separate. This is called dikaryotic. The process of fusing is called karyogamy.
