What are the products for the photosynthesis reactions?
High energy sugars, and Oxygen
How does a plant obtain the reactants needed for photosynthesis?
Water: through its roots (in the ground.)
CO2: Through “pores” in it leaves (in the atmosphere)
What role is played by the hydrogen ions that were released from the water molecules?
They power the ATP Synthase as they leave the cell, and change (along with 2 energised electrons) NADP+ into NADPH
What is the main photosynthetic pigment of photosynthesis?
Chlorophyll
Explain why chlorophyll appears green in color
Because it absorbs red and blue light, leaving only green to be reflected back
What is the role of chlorophyll in photosynthesis?
It absorbs the light (red and blue) energy needed
Why is sunlight needed in Photosynthesis
It is needed to energise the two electrons

Light is absorbed charging the 2 electrons in Photosystem 2 which then travel through, and charge, a H+ pump. They then, along with H+ Ions, help change NADP+ into NADPH.

What is the purpose of the light dependent reaction?
This reaction creates the energy needed to create stable high energy sugars.
