needs energy for process
done during aerobic work
can happen at any point during or after a game when working aerobically

Q

what takes place during the fast component?

A

replenish myoglobin stores
replenish atp stores
pc system will replenish this
50% of pc stores are replenished in 30 seconds
100% in 2-3 minutes (approx. 4ltrs of o2)

Q

what takes place during the slow component?

A

replenishes 5-10 litres of oxygen in 2 hours
removes lactic acid and returns it to its original components of glycogen, glucose, protein ,co2/water via kreb cycle
maintains heart and breathing rate
replenishment of glycogen via eating
elevated body temperature
