****Net effect is decreased TG and INCREASED HDL

  • This lipase would DECREASE plasma FFA

Also, Niacin INCREASES HDL production*

  • Clinically evident CAD

Note that elevated liver enzymes ALONE does not necessitate the cessation of statin therapy; elevated + BILIRUBIN is the indication that therapy should be stopped
