1

30°telescope (cystoscope; also 70°)

Used fr visalization f the urethra, interior bladder, and the ureteral; orifices

2

Telescope bridge

bridge

Used to adapt the teelscope lens to fit into the cystoscope sheath and may allow insertion of one or two accessories. These would include guidewires, ureteral catheters, stents, and other flexible devices

3

Cystoscope sheath and obturator

used for visual examination of the urethra, bladder, and ureteral orifices. Used for retrogrape pyelograms, bladder biopsies, ureteral stine manipulation, stent placement, and other endoscopic urologic procedures

Obturator is used to ease initial insertion of the cystoscope into the bladder

4

Resectoscope sheath and obturator

The outer sheath is used wih the working element, telescope, and electrode to resect tissues and coagulate bleeders duirng a transurethral resection of the prostate or bladder tumor. The obturator is used to ease initial insertion of the resectoscope into the bladder

5

Catheter deflecting element

cath element, deflecting bridge, deflector, deflecting mechanism

device that allows the surgeon to aim the tip of the accessory at a specific area or anotomic structure. A deflecting element is commonly used during a cystoscopy for retrograde pyelograms to direct the catheter into the ureteral orifice.

6

Working element (Iglesias)

Iglesias

Used with a resectoscope, telescope, and electrode to resect tissue and coagulate bleeders during a TURP or TURBT

7

Stopcock

8

Van Buren urethral sound

male sounds, van buren souns, urethral dilators

provides gradual dilation of the male urethra. ofetn used before placement of the cystoscope or rescetoscope to ease insertion

9

Ellik evacuator

Used for removing prostatic tissue segments and/or blood clots from the bladder

10

Ureteroscope (available as flexible or rigid)

Used for visual examination of the urinary tract including the ureters and teh renal pelvis. Used to diagnose, fulguration of bleeders, removal of neoplasm, and retrieval of migrated stents

Used to when removing ureteral or renal calculi

11

Irrigation tubing;

cystoscopy = straight;

TURP = Y tubing

Water tubing, cysto tubing

used for instillation of irrigation fluids into the urinary bladder, causing distention. Used for visualizing the interior during endoscopic urologic procedures.

12

Loop electrode

loop

used for resection and coagulation of prostatic and bladder tissues during transurethral procedures. It vaporizes the tisue in its immediate area as it resects a piece of tissue. Bleeders may also be coagulated simultaneously or individually.

13

Ball loop electrode

Used for coagulation of a larger surface area of teh bladder

14

Stone basket (ureteral)

Used for entrapping and removing renal calculi via a ureteroscope or a cystoscope

15

Balloon dilator (ureteral)

used for dilation of ureteral strictures

16

Foley catheter

17

3-way Foley catheter

18

Robinson catheter
