Q

what is leptin?

A

released from adipose cells, major satiety signal to hypothalamus. lackof leptin or resistance leads to excessive appetite and obesity.

9
Q

how does leptin affect POMC and NPY?

A

increases POMC but decreases NPY. THIS WILL INCREASE GnRH.

Q

how does leptin resistance affect breeding in humans?

A

over elevated leptin levels will have no effect of POMC and NPY and so POMC isnt activated to increase GnRH and NPY isnt supressed and will inhibit kisspeptin and GnRH. less sexual function.
