  • Commence consultation: establish initial rapport and supportive environment
  • Gather informaton: explore problems, pt’s perspective and opinions, ensure information is correct and mutually understood.
  • Physical examination:
  • Explanation and planning: Involve patient in decision making, provide appropriate type and amount of information
  • Closing consultation: Confirm established plan of care, maximise patient adherence and health outcomes, encourage pt to feel part of collaborative proess
