  • using appositives, which are nouns or pronouns placed next to another noun or pronoun to give additional information. an appositive phrase is an appositive plus and words that modify it
  • using coordinating conjunctions, which are linking words used to join two independent clauses together. the easiest way to remember these is the acronym FANBOYS
  • using subordinating conjunctions
    • can be easy to confuse with coordinating conjunctions, so it’s important to start to memorize some of the more frequently used subordinating conjunctions
  • some are: after, although, because, since, until, while, as, if, however, therefore
