When dealing with radioactive substances what are three ways we can limit or decrease exposure and dose?
A
Time- Decrease, minimizing or limiting the amount of time spent around the material emitting the radiation. Ex. Only allowing a person a specific amount of time around the source before replacing them with another person to continue or further the task.
Distance- Increasing the distance between the radioactive source and yourself. Ex. Doubling the distance decreases the strength of the radiation by 75%.
Shielding- Inserting or placing something between yourself and the source of radiation. Wood, cardboard, lead, concrete.
