Q

Effect osteoarthritis has on bones/joints

A
  • Joint cartilage deteriorates, bone surfaces are no longer protected.
  • The exposed bone wears away
  • Bony spurs or growths may develop from exposed ends of the bone forming the joint.
Spurs and growths decrease the space within the joint cavity, restricting movement of the joint.
  • Other effects include irritation and abrasion of the joints.
