Tells you how high and far the VOR covers

17
Q

How can you determine OBS heading?

A

Turn/press OBS knob to line up with course, and that is your OBS heading

18
Q

How many satellites are needed for accurate navigation?

A

3-5, 5 for RAIM

19
Q

How does a VOR work?

A

Projects radials from the station

20
Q

When does an airplane stall?

A

When the critical AOA is exceeded

21
Q

What is ADS-B?

A

Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast. Satellite based surveillance using GPS to determine a/c location and speed

22
Q

What is Mode C veil?

A

A 30nm ring usually around class B, must have a mode c transponder to enter

23
Q

Where are the VOR antennas?

A

On the tail! V shape!

24
Q

Where are ADS-B antennas?

A

On top and bottom of empennage

25
Q

Special VFR requirements?

A

1sm, clear of clouds, instrument rating

26
Q

What is the max airspeed allowed in class B?

A

250 knots

27
Q

What are the general dimensions of class C airspace?

A

Surface to 1,200’ (5nm), 1,200’-4,000’ shelf (10nm)

28
Q

What is the difference between a spin and a spiral?

A

A spin occurs when the aircraft is stalled. In a spiral, the aircraft is not stalled…horizontal component of lift is extremely high and vertical component of lift is diminished.

29
Q

Can we use 100 fuel in place of 100LL in the C172? What color is 100?

A

Yes, is it green!

30
Q
