Q

How did brienne attempt to impose reforms and when?

A

Though the paris parlements, but when they refused, Louis exiled them to Troyes on 15 August. This resulted in an aristocratic revolt. In all parts of the country, nobles met in unauthorised assemblies to discuss action in support of the parlements. An assembly of the clergy also met on the side of the parlements, breaking a long tradition of loyalty, and condemned the reforms, and gave less than a quarter of the size of their don gratuit.
