600 RVR or 1/4 mi with adequate visual reference
Can we take off below landing mins? What must we have?
Yes, must have a takeoff alternate
What do we need for an airport to be considered a takeoff alternate?
Within one hour flying single engine at cruise in still air
When do we need an alternate?
If at our destination +/-1hr time of arrival:
-1,500 + lowest circling MDA or
-1,500 + lowest approach mins or 2,000 + Apt elevation (whichever is greater)
And
Vis= 3 mi or 2+lowest apch mins, whichever is greater
How much fuel do we need?
Fly to destination Then most distant alternate Add 15% of that Add 30 mins OR Fly to destination Then most distant alternate Then 90 mins at cruise fuel consumption
Whichever is less
When do you need a second alternate?
When wx is marginal at first alternate
500 or less and 1/2mi above lowest landing minimum or less at the alternate
What paperwork is required to go?
Load manifest
Dispatch release
Copy of flight plan
What does TESTS mean?
Type of emergency Evacuation if necessary Signal for evacuation Time to landing Seating of pax if needed

When the visibility at departure airport is less than the landing mins at that airport or individual captains mins
