Define work done.
A
When a force causes an object to move through
a distance work is done.
THE AMOUNT OF WORK DONE IS EQUAL TO THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY TRANSFERRED.

What happens if you do work against a surface?
A
Friction is caused between the object and the surface because the surface is not perfectly smooth. This causes kinetic energy to be transferred into waster heat energy.

What is gravitational potential energy?
A
The amount of energy an object has when it is held above the ground.
