1
Q

Finkelstein’s test - tests for what

A

de Quarvain’s tenosynovitis

2
Q

Finkelstein’s test - how to perform

A

Pt makes fist with thumb within confines of fingers

Passively move wrist into ulnar deviation

3
Q

Bunnel Littler test - tests for what

A

Tightness in structures surrounging MCP joints

4
Q

Bunnel Littler test - how to perform

A

MCP joint stabilized in slight ext while PIP is flexed
Then MCP is flexed and PIP is flexed
Differentiates btw tight capsule and tight intrinsics
If flex limited both - capsule
If more PIP flex with MCP flex - intrinsics are tight

5
Q

Tight retinacular test - tests for what

A

Tightness around PIP joint

6
Q

Tight retinacular test - how to perform

A

PIP stabilized in neutral while DIP flexed
Then PIP flexed and DIP flexed
Different btw tight capsule and tight retinacular ligaments
If more DIP flexion with PIP flex - tight retinacular lig
If tight with both - capsule

7
Q

Ligamentous Instability Tests - how to perform

A

Fingers supported and stabilized
Valgus and varus forces applied to PIP joints
Repeated at DIP joints

8
Q

Froment’s Sign - tests for what

A

Ulnar nerve dysfunction

9
Q

Froment’s Sign - how to perform

A

Pt grasp paper btw first and second digits of hand - pull paper out and look for IP flexion of thumb (would be compensation of weak adductor pollicis)

10
Q

Tinels sign - tests for what

A

Capral tunnel copression of median nerve

11
Q

Tinels sign - how to perform

A

Tap region where median nerve passes through carpal tunnel

12
Q

Phalen’s Test - tests for what

A

carpal tunnel compression of median nerve

13
Q

Phalen’s Test - how to perform

A

Pt maximally flexes both wrists holding them against each other for 1 minute

14
Q

Two point discrimination test - how to perform

A

pt sitting with hand stabilized

use two point discriminator or paper clip to assess their ability to distinguish

15
Q

Allen’s test - tests for what

A

vascular compromise

16
Q

Allen’s test - how to perform

A

Identify radial and ulnar arteries at wrist
Have pt open and close fingers quickly several times and then make a closed fist
Compress the ulnar artery and have patient open hand
Observe palm of hand and release compression - observe vascular filling

17
Q

Flick test - tests for what

A

carpal tunnel syndrome

18
Q

Flick test - how to perform

A

Pt sitting or standing
Pt moves hand like shaking down a thermometer
Pt performs shaking motion to reduce symptoms in the wrist
