What is a WBS?

A

Hierarchal tree of tasks that need to be completed.
Very top is the project itself
2nd layer is main work packages. Each level below the second layer goes into more detail onto how to complete the work package

Why is coding helpful for WBS?

A

Unique identifier, so allows for easy retrieval
Acts as ‘address’ so you can follow the task back to the owner
Grouping of similar tasks
Allows for easier cost estimation

What are the benefits of critical path networks?

A

Shows logical interdependencies between different jobs

Allows priorities to be quantified (i.e. tasks that cannot be delayed without jeopardizing the whole project)

What are bar charts useful for?

A

Resource scheduling

What is slack or float?

A

Amount of time that can pass from earliest finish

On the precedence diagram, what is in the box?

A
Top left = earliest start
Top middle = Task duration
Top right = Earliest finish
Middle = activity ID
Bottom left = latest start
Bottom middle = total slack/float
Bottom right = Latest finish
