Q

How did Schiaparelli make use of material in her design?

A
  1. Schiaparelli used gold, silk thread for her embroidery on the jacket, this is a luxurious thread which shimmers in the light as the jacket moves. The use of gold makes the jacket look expensive and attractive as it catches your eye in the light, giving a sophisticated look. ( do I need to say where the thread is?)
  2. Lilac silk is used as the overall material, which is a very breathable material making it excellent to wear all year round- for it can trap air and provide warmth during the winter and become cool and breathable during the summer.
  3. The use of lilac as the overall material is also gentle and soft upon the skin making it comfortable and easy to wear on a night out without irritation or discomfort (can I refer to the same material if silk?!)
  4. Sewing machine made it quicker to create
