What is the incidence of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy

A

50-80% experience it

52% actually vomit

When is nausea usually resolved

A

by 12-14 weeks for majority

16-20 weeks for the rest

Describe: 3 Stages of Labour

A

Stage 1- Latent and Active: covers from when contractions begin (irregular, short lasting, 45sec and ends once fully dilated

Stage 2- begins with full dilation, expulsive contractions and ends with birth of the baby

Stage 3- is the birth of the placenta

What assessments are done 41+ weeks

A

Twice weekly CTG
Amniotic fluid volume assessed
Plan for IOL 41-42 weeks

  • Corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH)
  • Prostaglandins
  • Oxytocin
  • Oestrogen
  • Progesterone
