Q

Give 3 examples of a sense organ

A

Eyes
Ears
Skin

1
Q

What are the main parts of the CNS?

A

Brain

Spinal cord

2
Q

How does the CNS work?

A

The receptor cells in the sensory organs bring the Information as electrical impulses to the sensory neurones who give it to the relay neurons in the CNS to sort out. This information is then given to the motor neurones who pass it onto the effector cells in the muscle.

3
Q

What does the human nervous system contain of?

A

The brain
Spinal cord
Peripheral nerves

4
Q

Where are receptor cells found?

A

In the sensory organs

5
Q

Explain a sensory neurone

A

A sensory neuron carries information to the CNS from the receptor cells in the form of electrical impulses

6
Q

Explain a relay neuron

A

Relay neurones are involved in transferring information from sensory neuron to the motor neurones

7
Q

Why is a relay neuron highly branched?

A

It is highly branched to allow connections with a greater number of neurons

8
Q

Explain a motor neurone

A

Motor neurones are involved in transmitting messages from the Relay neurones to the effector cells found in muscles and glands

9
Q

What is a reflex action?

A

A reflex action is a very quick response that usually happens when danger is sensed by the receptor cells

10
Q

Why is a reflex action so rapid?

A

A reflex action or a reflexed Ark is extremely rapid because the only consists of three neurones

11
Q

What is a synapsis?

A

A synapsis is a microscopic gap between neurons

12
Q

What is the form of the nerve impulse transported across the synapses?

A

The nerve impulse is transported across the gap in the form of a chemical

13
Q

Give four examples of a reflex action

A

Blinking coughing sneezing and withdrawing hand from hot objects

14
Q

What are hormones?

A

Hormones are a type of chemical messenger which are released into the blood by certain glands

15
Q

Where is insulin produced?

A

It is produced in the pancreas

16
Q

What are Thermoreceptors?

A

They detect temperature in the skin

17
Q

What are effectors?

A

Affecters triggers a response in the muscles to carry out a specific action

18
Q

Give an example of negative feedback control

A

The regulation of body temperature

19
Q

Explain type one diabetes

A

Take one diabetes is developed when there is no insulin being produced by the pancreas

20
Q

Explain type two diabetes

A

When the insulin does not work properly or there is not enough

21
Q

State the general function of receptors as part of the nervous system

A

To convert stimuli to electrical impulses

22
Q

Describing the flow of information along a reflex arc

A

Stimuli affects receptors
electrical impulses pass through sensory neurons
processed by relay neurons is in the spinal cord
electrical impulses sent to affecters effectors make the response
