1
Q

Where is knee center?

A

Halfway between medial tibial plateau and adductor tubercle.

Or lateral tibial plateau

2
Q

What is the ankle joint height?

A

Baseline to distal tip of medial malleolus.

3
Q

Where is proximal edge of the calf band located

A

20mm from the neck of the fibula.

4
Q

How much ankle joint clearance should you have?

A

5mm from each malleoli.

5
Q

How do you determine transverse plane rotation of the ankle ?

A

Align ankle joints to measurements of malleoli in the AP direction, Deflect medial malleolus anteriorly the difference in measurement + 3mm to accommodate for increased ankle diameter in the mechanical joint.

Only move lateral spring posteriorly if distance is more than 28mm.

6
Q

What happens with the ankle joint is above anatomical ankle axis?

A
  • Will move distally with plantar flexion and dorsiflexion.
  • Dorsiflexion: pressure anterior distally and posterior proximally.
  • Plantarflexion: pressure posterior distally and anterior proximally.
7
Q

What happens with the ankle joint is below anatomical ankle axis

A
  • Will migrate proximally with PF and DF.
  • DF: pressure proximal anterior and distal posterior
  • PF: pressure proximal posterior and distal anterior
8
Q

What happens when ankle joint is in front of the anatomical axis?

A

DF: move proximally. pressure anterior distal and posterior proximal.

PF: moves distally. pressure anterior distal and posterior proximal.

9
Q

What happens when ankle joint is behind anatomical axis?

A

DF: Moves distally.
Pressure anterior proximal and posterior distal.

PF: moves proximal.
Pressure anterior proximal and posterior distal.

10
Q

Where does the proximal border of the proximal thigh band stop

A

35m distal to perineum

11
Q

What happens when knee joint is too far anterior?

A

Brace migrates distally

Pressure on thigh: anterior distal, posterior proximal.

Pressure on calf band: anterior.

12
Q

What happens when knee joint is too far posterior?

A

Brace migrates proximally

Pressure on thigh band: Anterior proximal, Posterior distal

Pressure on calf band:
Posterior

13
Q

What happens when knee joint axis is too far superior?

A

Brace migrates distally

Pressure on thigh band:
anterior proximal
Posterior distal

Pressure on Calf band:
Anterior

14
Q

What happens when knee joint axis is too far inferior?

A

Brace migrates proximally

Pressure on thigh band:
Anterior distal and proximal posterior

Calf band: pressure in the calf.
