What does energy do for us?
The energy that is released in living bodies is to keep them warm and allow them to move. It comes from food - mainly carbohydrates and glucose
What is respiration
It is the release of energy from food
What is aerobic respiration
It is the release of energy from food when oxygen is in the reaction
What is the word equation of aerobic respiration
Glucose + oxygen -> energy + carbon dioxide + water
What is anaerobic exercise
It is the release of energy from food when oxygen is not in the reaction
What is the word equation of anaerobic respiration
Glucose -> energy + ethanol + carbon dioxide (in yeast)
Or
Glucose -> energy + lactic acid (in animals)
What does biological mean
It means something to do with living things
What is respiration also
It is also a biological proccess
What are enzymes? What do they control?
Why does temperature affect respiration?
Enzymes are proteins that work at certain temperatures
All biochemical processes are controlled by enzymes
Enzymes cannot function when frozen
Enzymes are destroyed at high temperatures
