1
Q

What could cause changed in membrane homeostasis?

A

Hydropic change/oncosis - swelling of water

Fatty change/steatosis - accumulation of fat in the liver e.g.: liver cell is involved in fatty metabolism, NADPH removed for energe/substrates taken up for energy, causes fatty change

2
Q

What can changes in membrane homeostasis result in after a long time?

A

Autophagy - if a cell has too much going on, it starts downsizing by eating itself; becomes smaller and less functional

Atrophy - tissue losing cell size and cell number

3
Q

What does the nature of the injury depend on?

A

Whether it is acute or chronic; mild or sever; what type of cell it is e.g.: neuron or skin cell
