A

Learnt surgery as an apprentice army surgeon
Came up with mixture of egg yolks, oil of roses and turpentine by chance as ran out of oil for treating gunshot wounds
Ligatures - silk threads tied around blood vessels to seal wounds instead of painful cauterisation
Invented false limbs

Wrote fabric of the human bod, included intricate diagrams and drawings
Proved Galen wrong - jaw bone is one bone not two, breast bone has 3 parts, no invisible holes in septum of the heart

Describe the great plague of 1665.

A

One of the worst reappearances of the Black Death.
Death toll in London around 100,000 people
Red crosses painted on doors with words “Lord have mercy upon us”.
Carts roamed streets collecting dead victims.
People realised disease was contagious but still didn’t understand germs caused disease.
Great fire of London in 1666 sterilised large parts of London killing plague bacteria.
New buildings, streets and pavements had to be built, everything then cleaner and so much healthier place to live with less chance of catching disease.
Government influenced ph here by taking more responsibility
