A

A

1866 and it granted citizenship to anybody born in the USA (excluding Native Americans).

A

Confirmed the rights to citizenship and forbade states from depriving any person of life, liberty or property & forbade states from denying citizens the equal protection of the laws

When and what was the 15th amendment?

A

1870 and it forbade states from denying anyone the right to vote on account of race or colour. It still allowed states to restrict suffrage on grounds like illiteracy and poverty.

It was a response to the violence - it became a federal criminal offence to restrict civil and political rights of others

1875 and it guaranteed black Americans equal accommodation in public places, but lacked enforcement

A

Democrats now controlled the South so they could obtain military control, leading to the end of Reconstruction and federal protection of freed slaves.
