A
  • New headache in pt w/out hx
  • Sudden, severe 10/10 (“worst of my life” or “thunderclap”)
  • Focal neurologic deficit/stroke/TIA
  • Head trauma
  • Papilledema on physical exam
  • New dx dementia

Head CT is commonly used for what?

A
  • Chronic headache/migraine
  • Mental status changes, “sundowning”
  • Chronic psychiatric disease/psychosis/suicidal ideations
  • Chronic seizures
  • Fall/low force trauma w/out direct injury to head
  • Done to rule out bleed, NOT to confirm stroke
