1

Reinforcement

It is a procedure in which a stimulus is either presented or removed contingent upon a response and there is an increase in the probability of that response.

2

Punishment

It is a procedure in which a stimulus is either presented or removed contingent upon a response and there is a decrease in the probability of that response.

3

Positive Reinforcement

Is a procedure in which a stimulus is presented contingent upon a response and there is an increase in the probability of that response.

4

Negative Reinforcement

It is a procedure in which a stimulus is removed contingent upon a response and there is a increase in the probability of that response.

5

Negative Punishment

Is a procedure in which a stimulus is removed contingent upon a response and there is a decrease in the probability of that response.

6

Positive Punishment

Is a procedure in which a stimulus is presented contingent upon a response and there is an decrease in the probability of that response.

7

Reinforcer

Is a stimulus that when presented contingent upon a response increases the probability of that response and when removed contingent upon a response decreases the probability of that response.

8

Aversive

Is a stimulus that when presented contingent upon a response decreases the probability of that response and when removed contingent upon a response increases the probability of that response.

9

Extinction

Is a procedure in which a previously reinforced response is no longer reinforced and there is a decrease in the probability of the response.

10

Schedule Induction "schedule induced behavior"

Is species specific behavior that occurs under extinction even though it may have never been reinforced in the past.

11

Antecedent Stimuli

Set the occasion for a response to occur and be followed by a particular consequence.

12

Discriminative Stimulus

An antecedent stimulus that sets the occasion for a response to occur and be followed by reinforcement.

13

Extinction Stimulus

An antecedent stimulus that sets the occasion for a response to occur and be followed by extinction.

14

Conditioned Aversive Stimulus

An antecedent stimulus that sets the occasion for a response to occur and be followed by punishment.

15

1st Dimension: Applied

The issue being targeted would be recognized as significant by most.

16

2nd Dimension: Behavioral

We're actually collecting and analyzing data that focuses on the behavior of interest.

17

3rd Dimension: Analytic

We should be able to demonstrate that the changes of the behavior that we observed were actually due to the procedure that was examined.

18

4th Dimension: Technological

When we are able to describe the salient aspect of our procedure in terms of the interactions between the behavior and the contingency.

19

5th Dimension: Conceptually Systematic

The procedures that we use come from the basic theories of behaviors that come from prior experiences/research.

20

6th Dimension: Effective

The changes that we produce in the behavior are large enough to be significant.

21

7th Dimension: Generality

We have to be able to demonstrate that these procedures can be effective around a wide variety of settings and people AND that it is sustainable and maintainable.
