what are included in the hand-over arrangements?

A
  • criteria applied to confirm that the project has been successfully completed - who has authority to sign off that these criteria have been met - what post project support will be required and for how long

what is internal review?

A

when project is nearing end of the implementation phase, PM should call a meeting and hold an internal review to ensure readiness for the final acceptance criteria. - project status reviewed (including WBS, requirements, gantt chart) - may identify outstanding tasks and establish plans to make them happen

what is close-out meeting?

A

meeting with project client/sponsor purpose is to get client’s agreement that the project is complete and formal acceptance of deliverables. PM prepares project completion report - includes demonstration of deliverables to spec and quality and reasons for deviations from plan/spec

what is post-completion review?

A

purpose is to enable lessons learnt (both successes and problems) to be recorded for the benefit of future projects. should occur after handover whilst project is still fresh in minds

what is post-project audit?

A

occurs 6-9 months after completion. conducted by someone independent from project team The primary objective of such audits is to identify the need for changes to company policies and procedures.

ways that projects are brought to an early end

A

starvation - project denied resources projecticide - political culling of project because of the loss of its project champion in merger situation. technical failure - inability to meet critical performance parameters. technological barriers redundancy - loss of window of opportunity (e.g market changed)
