Missed Approach / Go Around

ACTIONS AND CALLOUTS
Go-around
“MISSED APPROACH” or “GO-AROUND” (1)
• Press TOGA
• Verify or move thrust levers to TO/GA detent
• Verify airspeed greater than VREF
“FLAPS\_\_”  Flaps 2 with 5 and Flaps 4 with Full
• Verify rotation or rotates towards GA initial pitch attitude
• Verify GA annunciations on FMA = GA TRACK GA
• Verify GA thrust
“FLAPS \_\_”
• Select GA flaps
Positive rate of climb
• Confirm positive rate of climb
“GEAR UP”
• Verify positive rate of climb
“POSITIVE RATE”
“GEAR UP”
• Position landing gear lever up
400 ft AGL (2)
At acceleration altitude
Silently verify appropriate lateral mode is active Silently verify FLCH (magenta) is active

“CLIMB SEQUENCE, AFTER TAKEOFF CHECKLIST”
• Retract flaps on schedule
• At flaps zero, accomplish the After Takeoff Checklist
“AFTER TAKEOFF CHECKLIST COMPLETE”
NOTE - Callouts are shown in bold text.
NOTE - This profile is predicated on utilizing FMS speeds.
(1) PF states “MISSED APPROACH” when conducting an instrument approach or “GO-AROUND” when conducting a visual approach.
(2) The autopilot may be engaged as early as 400 ft AGL.

Discontinued Approach or Early Missed Approach

A

To discontinue an approach without pressing the TOGA button, use the callout “DISCONTINUE” and perform the following actions:

  1. Deselect APP, if armed. Verify/select desired lateral mode displayed on the FMA.
  2. Set appropriate airspeed.
  3. Set appropriate altitude and select FLCH.
  4. Sequence the missed approach using the MISSED APPR prompt on FMS FLT PLAN page.
  5. Select go-around flaps.
  6. Select gear up.
  7. Call, “CLIMB SEQUENCE, AFTER TAKEOFF CHECKLIST.”

• Verify GA RSV thrust

• Engage AP
