What is a negotiated family?
A family that is no longer guided by traditional norms
Instead families vary according to the wishes and expectations of family members
How does a negotiated family reflect greater self interest?
Reflects greater self interest as rather than obligations to family members, family life is no longer certain and there is greater individualism
Why do negotiated families lead to greater family diversity?
Lead to greater family diversity because there will be more single parent families, reconstituted families, re-marriages, one person households etc.
