1
Q

somatic sensory

A

afferent nerves transmit sensations involved in touch, pressure, pain, temperature, and position

2
Q

somatic motor

A

efferent fibers carry impulses t the skeletal (voluntary) muscles

3
Q

visceral (autonomic) sensory

A

afferent tracts transmit sensation from the visceral organs (sensations like full bladder or the need to defecate)

4
Q

visceral (autonomic) motor

A

efferent fibers exit the central nervous system and branch to supply nerves to the involuntary cardiac muscle and smooth muscle of the viscera (organs) and to the glans

5
Q

sympathetic nervous system

A

“fight or flight” / located near the thoracic and lumber part of the spinal cord / stimulation causes increased heart rate and blood pressure, pupillary dilation, a rise in the blood sugar, as well as bronchodilation / neurotransmitters - epinephrine and norepinephrine

6
Q

parasympathetic nervous system

A

“feed or breed” / stimulation causes decrease in heart rate, increase in digestion, pupillary constriction, reduction in blood sugar; monitors normal heart rate and blood pressure / neurotransmitter - acetylcoline
