When would Operations Commanders be introduced at an incident?

Operations Commanders should only be introduced at complex incidents with excessive Spans of Control.

What call sign would an Ops Commander have?

  • One OC - Operations Commander
  • Multiple - descriptive or alphabetical

At incidents where only one Operations Commander is used the call sign will be ‘Operations Commander’.

If multiple Operations Commanders are used, it is essential that they are distinguished either by descriptive or by alphabetical terms, such as Operations Commander Factory Block.

How will the Operations Commander be identified (surcoat/tabard)?

  • Red shoulders
  • Orange/red body

 

The Operations Commander will be identified by asurcoat: red yoke and orange/red lower body marked "Operations Commander"
