A

A

Culture would normally only joke with individuals they were familiar with. However, there’s an exception to this when they’re on the bus, as they use “joking” as a way to ease tension in a cramped bus environment

Levi-Strauss: Myths provide imaginary solution to social contradictions that in real life can’t be resolved/overcome

  1. Separation: leave behind symbols and practices of previous position
  2. Transition: between states. Phase that lets you accept new role. Initial stage of a process
  3. Re-aggregation: Ritual passenger reintroduced to society in new position
