  1. Explain the Change Equals Effort over Time (CET) change management model
A

a. 4 phases: Excitement, Hard Work, Turning Point, Institutionalized
i. Excitement Phase – look forward to positive effect of change
ii. Hard Work Phase – habits, patterns, culture
iii. Turning Point Phase – understanding and ability to perform
iv. Institutionalized Phase – new behavior becomes “social norm”

  1. EXPLAIN LEWIN’S FORCE FIELD ANALYSIS OF CHANGE-SCENARIO KNOW 7 PROCESSES
A

a. In any situation, there are driving and restraining forces that influence change
i. Driving forces – push in a particular direction to produce change
ii. Restraining forces – act to restrain or decrease the driving forces and inhibit change
b. Process:
i. Describe current situation
ii. Describe desired situation
iii. ID where the current situation will go if no action is taken
iv. List all driving forces
v. List all restraining forces
vi. Discuss and interrogate all the forces:
1. Are they valid?
2. Can they be changed?
3. Which are the critical ones?
vii. Discuss how the change can be affected by changing strength of forces

a. Participation
i. Lets people learn and grow
ii. Provides a greater sense of control and, as a result, a greater sense of job security
iii. Reduces fear of the unknown, since they are helping plan the future
b. Behavior Modification
i. People prefer encouragement to criticism
ii. They respond more positively to praise than to censure
iii. Track daily praise of subordinates vs. finding fault; note the results.
c. Mandating Change
i. It is a top-down approach
ii. The leader is responsible for the major decisions
iii. It can be effective in certain instances
d. Time Allowance
i. Know what to expect & when
ii. See the overall goal
iii. See how each activity contributes to change
iv. Increases understanding of the need for a schedule
v. Able to spot pitfalls in the process
vi. Make necessary modifications to ease transition
e. Group Dynamics
i. Might show less resistance compared to loosely organized group
ii. Help bring about change
iii. Influence within group can often yield positive results
