1
Q

In Cast-iron And Mill lofts, what should the initial Hand line be?

A

Intial Hoseline 2 1/2 inch.

6.1.1

2
Q

The second line is usually stretched by way of interior stairs to the same floor as the first line for augmentation. If noot needed, on the original firefloor, it can be advanced to the floor above. When can the officer on the second line order it stretched to the floor above?

A

He should not advance until assured the first line is making progress AND is capable of handling the fire floor. All hoseline commitment and coodination must be communicated to all officers in the Fire sector.

6.1.5

3
Q

There is the potential for backdraft on intermediate floors where vertical ventilation is not possible. Where should firefighters on the hoseline be positioned?

A

Position firefighters on the hoseline to the side of the entrance to the fire area. Utilize the reach of the hose stream and begin the attack with FF low as possible. This may require starting from a few steps downthe stairs from the entrance. This will allow the water stream to break up and cool the ambient air. This should be coordinated with exterior opperation.

6.1.7

4
Q

What can happen to segmental arch floors that are exposed to fire?

A

The can spall violently and possibly fail when struck by water from a hoseline below. Use the reach of the stream and don’t opperte the stream directly overhead.

6.1.8

5
Q

Spinkler systems may serve only the cellar and sub cellar. What do non -automatic systems depend on?

A

Non-automatic sprinklers depend solely on the FD for their water supply.

6.1.9a

6
Q

How are large area automatic sprinklers supplied?

A

They can be supplied by one or more sources such as city mains, gravity tanks, or pressure tanks.

6.1.9b

7
Q

In buildings where the sprinklers serve the upper floors, section valves may be found on individual floors. What must be checked in this situation?

A

These valves must be checked to ensure they are in the full open position.

6.2.1

9
Q

In a building protected by a sprinler serving the fire area, if staffing and conditions permit, a supply line shall be stretched to feed the system. What should the first hose;line do if conditions prevent advancing?

Notify the IC, and remain at this position to prevent upward extension.

6.2.1

10
Q

What are the duties of the second engine at cellar/ sub-cellar fires in Cast iron/Mill loft buildings?

A
