kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species

What are the 2 words that Linnaeas uses to classify and how are they written?

A

Genus, species (in italics with the genus in upper case)

A

family is closer than order (but order is more closely related than class)

How do you know if individuals are of the same species?

A

they mate and can produce offspring (thats how we define a species)

What is a dichotomous key?

A

system using a series of steps that lead to classification of an organism (this is what we use to determine the right taxa placement for families, orders, classes)
