Our principal aim is to make London a safer city by minimising the risk plus the social and economic costs of Fire and other hazards.

A

Prevention- Engaging with London’s communities to inform and educate people in how to reduce the risk of fires and other emergencies.
Protection- Influencing and regulating the built environment to protect people and property from harm.
Response- Planning and preparing for emergencies that may happen, and making a high quality, effective and resilient response to them.
Resources- Managing risk by using our resources flexibly, efficiently and effectively, continuously improving the way we use public money.
People- Working together to deliver the highest quality services within a safe and positive environment for everyone in the organisation.
Principles- Operating in accordance with our values and ensuring that safety, sustainability, partnership and diversity are at the heart of all our activities.

What is the emergency obstruction act?

A
Emergency workers (obstruction) act 2006
This act, which was introduced in 2007 makes it an offence to obstruct or hinder person who provide emergency services and for connected purpose.
Obstructing or hindering certain emergency workers responding to emergency circumstances.
1) A person who without reasonable excuse obstructs or hinders another while that other person is, in a capacity mentioned in subsection (2) below,
2) The capacity referred to in subsection (1) above is - a. that of a person employed by a fire and rescue authority in England and Wales

Financed by GLA from the council tax paid by the residents of London and an annual grant given by central government.
